Our Mission

We are a professional Association, national in scope, comprised of IA Directors of Athletics.

As stewards of our profession, we bear responsibility for all facets of professional administration of the intercollegiate athletic programs within the community of higher education.

As a service organization, we provide and coordinate a comprehensive array of professional services in response to the needs and wants of our member schools.

Mike Alden
President
D1A Athletic Directors’ Association

In September, Mike Alden, Director of Athletics at the University of Missouri, was elected to lead the D1A Athletic Directors’ Association in 2009-2010. Serving at Mizzou since 1998, Mike has developed one of the nations most highly regarded athletics programs. Under Mike Alden’s leadership, Mizzou Athletics has prospered and grown under the inspiring mission of “Preparing Champions for Life through Academic Integrity, Social Responsibility and Competitive Excellence.”

Mike has earned the Athletics Director of the Year Award for the Central Region presented by NACDA in 2008. A member of numerous NCAA committees, including the NCAA Management Council, NCAA Championship/Competition Cabinet, NCAA Division I Leadership Council, NCAA Oversight and Monitoring Group, Alden has helped to drive policy that has not only shaped the current landscape of intercollegiate athletics, but has paved the way for the future growth of college sports as a whole.
